Becoming a Catholic

✝️ OCIA – ORDER OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

Curious About the Catholic Faith? We’re Here to Walk With You.

Perhaps you’ve been searching for deeper meaning… drawn by Catholic friends… or longing to know Jesus more fully.

OCIA is designed for people just like you — curious, hopeful, seeking community. Come, explore with us!

🌱 WHAT IS OCIA?

OCIA (formerly known as RCIA) is the Church’s process for welcoming adults into the full life of the Catholic faith. It leads seekers through spiritual formation, instruction, prayer, and parish life — all rooted in Christ and centered on the Sacraments of Initiation:

  • Baptism
  • Confirmation
  • Eucharist

The journey is personal, respectful, and guided by members of our parish community who walk with you along the way.

🙋‍♀️ WHO IS OCIA FOR?

If you’ve never been baptized, OCIA prepares you to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist — the foundation of Christian life.

If you were baptized in another Christian community with water and the Trinitarian formula (“in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”), your baptism is valid. You can enter full communion with the Catholic Church by making a Profession of Faith and receiving Confirmation and Eucharist.

If you were baptized in the Catholic Church but have not yet received First Communion or Confirmation, we offer a separate preparation program. It typically runs weekly from December to March and includes engaging, conversational instruction.

Baptized Catholic, But Never Confirmed?

If you were baptized Catholic and received First Communion but have not yet celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation, we offer a separate program just for you.

  • Sessions typically begin in December and conclude in March
  • Meetings are held once a week, typically in the evening
  • The program focuses on spiritual renewal, Church teaching, and preparation for full participation in the life of the Church

This is a wonderful opportunity to renew your faith, grow in confidence, and receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

🧭 THE JOURNEY OF OCIA

OCIA isn’t a class — it’s a process of conversion and community. Through:

  • Weekly gatherings
  • Faith sharing and Scripture
  • Mentorship and liturgical experiences
you’ll grow closer to Christ and prepare for a joyful welcome into the Church.
